The rich production of Villager's "Aura EP" brought atmospheric, melodic, improvisational warmth to the BNR catalogue. In "Aura Remixes," Villager's "Vessel Boy" and "Chimera" get brought back down to the concrete with techno treatments from PTU, Pilo, and r21freq, as well as a huge progressive rework from the label boss' moniker Elax.

The sense of space and scale of Villager's originals remain in the remixes, the melodies obfuscated before revealing themselves ephemerally like rays of light breaking through endless clouds. The "Aura EP" was open, forward with it's emotion, but here tension and release become the operative technique. A mystery story is best when it unfolds slowly. The Elax remix of "Vessel Boy" strays the least from its source but re-ogranizes Villager's work for maximal dancefloor impact. Putting it's detuned bassline in the front, the emotion remains in an essential form while Elax's percussion drives it to climactic heights. "Aura Remixes" is a retelling of the Villager story by those who dwell in dark rooms

Vladimir is my favourite artist. Heard 'No tell motel' before it was released back in December 2021 by Nina kraviz in Athens. That's how I discovered Vladimir and fell in love with his sound. Never disappoints, this guy is a genius literally, he should have taken more credit for his work.
